3 strawberries with stem removed
8-10 mint leaves
1 tbsp lemon juice
2 oz whiskey
1 oz simple syrup
1 tbsp sugar
Lemon wedge for rim of glass
Step 1: To prep your glass, take the lemon wedge and rub it around the rim of the glass until it’s wet. Then, dip the rim of the glass in the sugar and set aside. (Hint: the easiest way to the sugar the rim is to pour the sugar on a plate and put the glass face down into the plate)
Step 2: In a shaker, muddle the strawberries and mint until you’ve created a juice like substance. Add the lemon juice, whiskey, and simple syrup. Shake the ingredients and pour into the glass with the sugar rim.
Step 3: Add ice to fill and garnish with additional mint leaves.
Summer isn’t over yet, so before you trade in your fruity tropical drinks for pumpkin spice and cider, try a Strawberry Whiskey Delight. This drink is definitely on the sweeter side so if you like a more bitter tasting cocktail, I would recommend to skip this one. However, if you like a sweet and fruit packed drink then I would definitely try this one.
The bitter and bold mint combined with the sweet strawberries creates a great base for your cocktail. The whiskey and lemon also offer a really nice balance between bitter and sour. My favorite part of this whole drink though would have to be the fresh strawberry chunks at the bottom. Every sip allows you to get a nice refreshing taste of fruit.
To kick the sweetness notch up a bit, the sugar around the rim seals the deal. Hence, the name Strawberry Whiskey Delight. You can’t be bitter when you’re drinking this cocktail because it’s filled with such fruity and delicious goodness. So hold off on your Fall themed drinks and enjoy the sweet Summer just a little bit longer.
