2 oz tequila
3 oz pineapple juice
Tonic water to fill
Step 1: To add the tajin, use the lemon wedge and rub it around the rim of the glass. Pour some tajin on a small plate. Then, tip the glass over into the tajin until the entire rim is covered.
Step 2: Fill the glass with ice. Pour in the tequila, pineapple juice, and the tonic water to fill. Enjoy!
Well, it’s finally here! Our first tequila cocktail recipe, the spicy tequila pineapple. I’ve done a whiskey pineapple previously so I had to try the tequila pineapple. Honestly, I think that adding pineapple to anything can be a game changer (unpopular opinion…pizza). However, this was still missing a little something. So, I had the idea of adding tajin which tastes great on fruit anyway so why not a cocktail?
The spicy tequila pineapple cocktail is the perfect combination of spicy and sweet. I haven’t had a tequila cocktail in a while and with any alcohol, mixing can be a hit or miss. This combination is definitely a hit. The pineapple isn’t overpowering when paired with the tonic water and you can still taste hints of the tequila without it tasting like a straight shot. Then, when you incorporate the tajin into every sip, that spiciness hits your tongue with an unexpected pop of flavor. It’s almost as if you’re drinking a candy drink without the overbearing sweetness. I can tell you though that is another drink that you can sip all day long and not realize how buzzed you can get.
Try it out for yourself and as always, let me know what you think. Cheers!
