Hot Toddy

hot toddy recipe

This was my first time trying this hot toddy recipe and I was actually really impressed. It’s super simple and it calls for so few ingredients that it makes it that much better. As I was making this cocktail, I realized that it’s essentially hot tea with whiskey included. Because of this, it’s such a perfectly delicious drink for the cold holiday nights where you can cuddle up by the Christmas tree and just relax. Or, if you feel like you’re coming down with something and have a sore throat, this is a great remedy.

Now, with a hot toddy, there are many different variations where you can add spices like cinnamon and your choice of liquor. With that said, don’t feel like you have to stick to the recipe below. You can also use either a brandy, scotch, or whiskey. Since I’m a lover of whiskey, I chose to use that but you can use your drink of choice. Here’s what else you’ll need for this hot toddy recipe.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup hot water

3 oz whiskey

2 tsp honey

2 tsp fresh lemon juice

1 slide of lemon for garnish

First, heat up 3/4 cup of hot water. You can boil this on the stove or warm in the microwave. Next, add 3 oz of whiskey.

Add your 2 tsp of honey and fresh lemon juice. Give it a good stir to make sure the honey doesn’t sit at the bottom of the glass.

Finally, cut 1 thin slice of lemon and place at the top of the drink.

If you want to be really fancy, you can add a cinnamon stick for garnish. Those aren’t the easiest to find and I didn’t have any on hand, so to keep it simple, I stuck with the lemon. My goal is to keep these recipes as simple as possible for you!

And there you have it, a tasty hot toddy drink to pair perfectly with any Winter night.
