This cocktail combines two of my favorite drinks, red wine and whiskey. I stumbled across this recipe when I was looking at the different whiskey cocktail combinations and saw that mixing red wine isn’t that strange after all. So, I decided to try it for myself and add a couple of extra ingredients just to sweeten it up a bit.
The end result of this drink was delicious and resembled a port. However, I must warn you that this is a creeper drink. Although it tastes sweet, it will give you a good buzz fairly quickly. One other thing that I really enjoyed about this cocktail recipe is that it includes ingredients that you more than likely already have in your house. There isn’t anything too complex about it. Here’s what you’ll need.
7 oz red wine
3 oz whiskey
3 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp orange juice
2 tbsp simple syrup
First you’ll pour the wine and the whiskey in the glass. I used a red blend and an Irish whiskey for my combination but you can test it out with others.
Then, add the lemon juice, orange juice, and simple syrup. Tip: I use fresh squeezed juice but you can try using carton orange juice if that’s all you have.
Give it a little stir and there you go! You have a delicious whiskey and wine cocktail that will pair perfectly with chocolate.
